Information ----------------- Track Name: Red Rock Valley Length: 790 meters Difficulty Easy Author: Saffron Description ----------------- Gran Turismo is a racing game franchise known by many, with its sheer quality of quantity being its key selling point. When I first tried Gran Turismo 2 (having been familiar with 1, 3 and 4), I came across a lot of tracks I'd never seen before. Red Rock Valley was the one that appealed to me the most, with the design and the setting (at least to me) seemingly a direct upgrade over High Speed Ring. It was a shame it was one of the many tracks from that game that never made it past the PS1-era, and while people begged Polyphony for these hiddem gems to come back, they never really delivered, and with the series going in a different direction with GT Sport, it's unlikely we'll ever see these fictional tracks return. Since roughly 2009 I've always wanted to see this track in particular recreated, since it'd be a lot of effort to rip the track directly from the game. Nine years later, after becoming proficient enough in Blender, I've done it. The track is mostly accurate, with some inconsistencies here and there. The bankings probably aren't perfect, nor are the elevation changes. But what matters is the environment, the layout and the detail makes it instantly recognizable. I spent countless hours driving around Red Rock Valley in the original game to make the recreation as close to the original as possible, and fill the gaps wherever they were required. A lot of textures are printscreens from the original game as well, namely the pit garages and the tunnel walls. To minimize corner-cutting, I've utilized custom properties exclusive to recent RVGL patches. Touching the grass and/or the gravel will slow you down significantly and compared to how they originally were. On top of that, taking a pitstop to grab the star (if you're racing with powerups) will slow you down immensely as well. Requirements ----------------- You MUST use the latest RVGL patch to see the textures, and for the custom properties to work.
